Background

By the time Carlie was in her mid-20s, she had been in three abusive relationships. She had a child with one of the abusers, who at any time would verbally attack her, leaving her powerless and constantly stressed. Her response was to retreat further and further into her shell which kept her away from help and comfort.

Carlie had numerous conversations which focused on the behaviours of the abusers and how she could change them. Trying to address the issue in this way only ensured that Carlie remained powerless.

Carlie desperately wanted a new mind-set and set of behaviours. She needed to:

  • Change the image she had of herself

  • Challenge her thinking

  • Back herself to learn

What Carlie had in abundance was strength and courage. And even though she didn’t always acknowledge it, she had her share of achievements. She had won a national award for her vocation, she purchased her first house at a crazy young age, she had great friendships and relationships with her parents and siblings and she was a raising a healthy, vivacious child.

Genius You journey

The first thing that Carlie had to do was believe in me and the process. We were fortunate that a dear friend had gone through Genius You and Carlie had witnessed a complete turnaround in her friend’s confidence and emotional stability.

We focused on the things that she was able to control and unravelled the pattern of beliefs, thoughts and behaviour. These elements make up our operating system. They are default response to experiences, directed by emotions and our interpretation of situations.

She initially found Genius You was a wrangle because you are using your mind to:

  • Overcome your mind

  • And train your mind.

A big leap of faith needed to happen, but once she got there, Carlie found… it’s amazing.

Outcomes

Carlie discovered how her mind was stuck, identify the pieces that kept her there and discovered how to re-programme them. She learnt how to harness emotions to benefit and protect her, rather than needing to develop a façade because she misunderstood them.

She is now able to observe people and choose whether she needs to react or interact. She’s learning about herself, how she works, what choices she has. She can now see how others work, who to stay away from, who to build a relationship with. And how to not allow abuse in her life. The relief for her has been immense.

Investment

  • Time – 6 weeks

  • Session commitment – 1-2 hours per week

  • Additional – 30 mins of active work a day

  • Cost – $1,750

Conclusion

Carlie believes that this process saved her life. She describes Genius You as a process to re-make yourself and describes me as a teacher who shows you how people work, so you can do life differently.

When we are in situations that has us trapped and disempowered, we think that we are weak, flawed or broken, or that we don’t deserve better. We don’t understand at that point that our programming is the issue; a default setting that is eminently fixable!

Carlie now knows this. She’s done it. She’s overcome the abuse and she is now thriving and leading her family to do the same.
